Obtaining the Assessor Matrix in Arc Raiders

The Assessor Matrix, a universal +15% head-shot damage modifier, is not a loot drop. In Arc Raiders, you earn it by completing a specific three-part quest chain. This chain starts with the NPC Dr. Sveinn in the Rustland Sink and ends inside the decommissioned Orbital Lifter on the eastern edge of the map.

How the Assessor Matrix Quest Works

The game tags this chain as “optional faction work” but requires it to obtain the matrix. You can start it at clearance level 8, but subsequent steps require clearance levels 12 and 14, respectively. Rushing to Rustland at level 9 will not work, as objectives will not register until you hit the required breakpoints.

Step 1: Pick Up “Signal Drift” from Dr. Sveinn

Dr. Sveinn can be found behind the half-buried tank in the northern end of Rustland Sink. At clearance level 8, talk to him to receive a pocket scanner resembling a battered pager. You must calibrate it at three radio masts, which are only marked on the map during the “Clear” or “Overcast” weather state. If the server is running Ash Storm or Ion Rain, the quest marker disappears, and the masts are not visible.

Calibrating the Radio Masts

Each mast has a small panel at its base. Interact with it, defend against two waves of scavs, then climb the ladder and interact again. The second interaction uploads data and spawns a pack of three elite scavs with rail rifles. Killing them or pausing the upload is necessary. Once all three masts are calibrated, fast-travel back to Sveinn. Note that he will not accept the turn-in if you are in a group and the party leader has not also finished the uploads.

Step 2: “Ghost Frequency” Inside the Orbital Lifter

Sveinn then sends you to the Orbital Lifter, a large, broken rocket structure in the far east. Clearance level 12 is required for the door to open. Bringing an electric weapon is recommended, as it helps against the armored drones inside. The mission item, a resonator core, is located on the third floor in a room locked by a color puzzle. The puzzle sequence is static: red, blue, yellow, red. Entering this sequence on the wall console opens the door.

Retrieving the Resonator Core

Grab the core to trigger a silent alarm. The game spawns two heavy mechs that can one-shot on veteran difficulty. You do not need to kill them; simply sprint back the way you came, slide down the broken gantry, and exit the instance. The quest updates as soon as you cross the loading zone threshold. If you die, the core respawns, but the mechs stay dead, making the second run easier.

Step 3: “Dead Channel”, the Timed Finale

Back at Sveinn's, you receive a battery item. This step involves completing a timed objective. Completing this final step rewards you with the Assessor Matrix, which is directly placed into your permanent upgrade inventory, with no RNG involved.
