Fortnite is Officially Joining the Esports World Cup 2026

Fortnite Reload has been officially confirmed for the Esports World Cup 2026 in Riyadh, with Epic Games and the Esports World Cup Foundation announcing a new multi-year competitive structure built around the respawn-focused mode. The Reload Elite Series will carry $2.5 million in total prize money, making it one of the more substantial competitive packages Fortnite has seen in recent years.

The series runs across 4 online Qualifiers between January and June 2026, distributing $1.5 million across those events before the top 40 duos in the world travel to Riyadh for the in-person Reload Championship – where the remaining $1 million is up for grabs. Qualification isn’t straightforward: players need Elite rank or higher in Reload, an Account Level of at least 350, and 14 tournament plays logged in the past 6 months just to enter.

Fortnite Reload’s format – faster engagements, respawns until the final circle, and a points system built around eliminations – makes it a natural fit for a multi-title festival like EWC, where spectator accessibility matters. EWC 2026 spans 25 events across 24 titles with over $75 million in total prize money, placing Reload alongside CS2, Dota 2, and other tier-one titles on the same stage.

Fabian Scheuermann, Chief Games Officer of the Esports World Cup Foundation, said the inclusion “introduces a new global, multi-year competitive ecosystem at the world’s biggest esports event,” pointing specifically to Fortnite’s fanbase in Saudi Arabia as part of the draw. The choice of Reload over standard Battle Royale also makes sense given how the broader Fortnite competitive scene has been gravitating toward faster, more broadcast-friendly formats.

Detailed rulebooks and qualifier schedules are expected to roll out alongside each 2026 window – keep an eye on Epic’s official competitive hub for updates as the January opener approaches.
