Roseman: 'A Pick Is a Pick' for Brown Trade

Eagles GM Howie Roseman defended the team's decision to trade star receiver A.J. Brown to the Patriots for a 2028 first-round pick, emphasizing his philosophy that future first-round selections maintain significant value.

After the Eagles shipped Brown to New England for a 2028 first-rounder and a 2027 fifth-rounder, Roseman met with reporters to explain the rationale behind accepting a future pick. "For us to take a 2026 pick, and that's a late first-round pick, and obviously also have to deal with the cap consequences... it made some sense for us to look at future picks," Roseman said. michezonews.co.za

The Eagles executive maintained his long-standing philosophy: "We've always been in the mindset a pick is a pick — a first-round pick is a first-round pick. Doesn't matter. Teams are still going to be playing football in 2028." Though future first-round picks are generally valued as current second-round selections, Roseman believes the 2028 pick could ultimately prove more valuable depending on the Patriots' performance in 2027.
